All symbolism/foreshadowing from the House of the Undying = Gone
where is the blue rose?
what about her three husbands?
what about the three heads of the dragon?
It’s mentioned The Stallion that Mounts the World, like ONCE
Where is The Prince that was Promised?
Where is all material that lets the fans speculate intelligently????
Where is all the enjoyment gone!?

That the translation from book to screen will never be what you imagine it to be because a book can always describe and show you things in ways that will never translate onto a show. I believe Game of Thrones and it’s writers have done an amazing job being able to translate all of the storylines in the time slot they are given and with the budget they are provided. The actors always deliver and everyone just needs to relax and have realistic expectations when it comes to book to screen interpretation but most of all just enjoy watching the show, it was made for entertainment and to watch your favorite books come to life on screen so why not just love it for what it brings…not hate it for what it lacks. Which more often then not, is very little.
Except it didn’t for some characters.
I think asking for a one minute quiet scene between two characters is being realistic and is not exactly stretching the budget. Another example would be playing out a “death scene” like it was in the books so the reasoning behind a character’s actions make more sense and allow us to empathize with them.
I see nothing wrong with fans complaining about feeling underwhelmed by particular scenes. No one is saying it is the worst show ever, but when they make changes that result in a disservice to a character then I think it is fair to make complaints.
The show is awesome, but it could be so much more if they did things differently with a few characters.
Making characters look 10x more foolish/annoying on screen than they ever were in the book is not entertaining to watch, because then you no longer want to root for them.
I agree with swordinthedarkness 100000000000%
I love the show, but I do not love the fact that they took my favorite character and turned him into a moron. What really frustrates me is that there was no reason for it. Just a few extra minutes of screen time for Jon and Halfhand could have changed so much. Instead of having a three day chase scene between Jon and Ygritte, that time could have been better used to establish a relationship between Jon and Halfhand. The fact that so many people (non book readers) were confused as to why Jon killed Halfhand, shows that the writers did not do a good enough job conveying the reason behind the actions. The budget it no excuse to make an awesome character suddenly not seem so awesome.
No one is saying that they expect the show to be exactly like the book. I do, however, expect the show writers to keep the overall story the same and to not tarnish the image of an amazing character like Jon Snow.

For all the non-readers out there, Qhorin Halfhand deliberately drew Jon Snow into this fight knowing it would lead to his death. The Night’s Watch basically needs a ‘spy’ embedded in the wildling camp to find out why the wildlings are marching on The Wall, what specifically The King Beyond the Wall is searching for, and maybe find out what happened to Benjen Stark. The only way for Jon to gain the wildlings’ trust and to prove that he is a turncloak and has forsaken the Night’s Watch is to kill Qhorin in the presence of Rattleshirt and company. ‘Book Jon’ knows all of this at this point in the novels, but it is unclear whether ‘Show Jon’ does.
Also I think the CGI budget for Ghost the direwolf paid for Kit’s hair products instead. I mean look at the fluffiness.

Thanks a lot HBO for ruining Jon Snow. I have to constantly defend him, even more than before, because so many non book readers don’t get why all that stuff with the halfhand went down. Jon Snow already had enough crap to deal with, why did the show writers feel the need to make fans turn against him to?
I still love you, Jon Snow, even though the show has made you look like a moron, I still love you!!!!!
